I have had five AS flights so far this year that have departed from the N gates in SEA. Four of these flights have been totally cancelled and the other was delayed for over three hours. I am beginning to think that maybe AS changes a questionable flight to the N gates to not interupt the normal flow of traffic at the D gates.
Has anyone else experienced flights out of the N gates, and if so, were they delayed or cancelled?I have had five AS flights so far this year that have departed from the N gates in SEA. My experience with N gates has been fine. The flights were pretty close to on-time. On the other hand, a week ago, I saw two flights at the D gates to PHX that were both showing 3 hours late.N gate flights are delayed and cancelled due to connecting passengers that cannot haul themselves over there in time. :D
A slight exaggeration of course....I haven't noticed any particular problems with flights into/out of N gates - apart from the annoyance of being at the satellite terminal at all :(
I have had a couple of panics when I got my return BP in the moring, and then cut things tight arriving back at SEA to find that the gate had switched from C/D to N.Friday, 4/13, I was BOS-SEA-ANC... my wife calls as I arrive at Logan to tell me that AS called home number to tell them that my SEA-ANC #129 was cancelled and that they had me rescheduled for a flight at 0600 the next day out of SEA. A hotel voucher was provided to me at SEA and it all worked out OK. But I am curious... this flight 129 was cancelled due to lack of crew 8-9 hours ahead of sceduled departure time.... they cannot rustle up a MD80 crew at a main base like SEA with that much advance notice?I was at SEA twice in the past three weeks (once late AM, once late afternoon), both times it appeared virtually all flights were departing on-time, apart from ORD which was experiencing significant ATC delays. They had both of the ORD flights departing out of the N gates. One of them ending up cancelling, and they probably transferred some pax over to United, which of course also departs out of N gates. Also, AS will sometimes park a plane at the N gates when they don't intend to use it for several hours. My impression is the N gates are used more for evening arrivals and AM departures, but you will find a few afternoon/evening departures scheduled from N as well, particularly during summer when AS is running its peak number of flights.
Overall, I have been pretty impressed with AS on-time performance lately. My last 11 flights were all on-time or early, and they've been at various times of the day (routes were sfo-san, sfo-sea, sea-lax, lax-pdx, sea-las).I arrived in at the N gates this morning from BUR .. on time, and looked to be having an on time departure out of N as well.Friday, 4/13, I was BOS-SEA-ANC... my wife calls as I arrive at Logan to tell me that AS called home number to tell them that my SEA-ANC #129 was cancelled and that they had me rescheduled for a flight at 0600 the next day out of SEA. Apparently not. I suppose that this will improve when AS gets rid of the MD-80's and has an all 737 fleet. Presumably, the cockpit crews will be totally interchangable.#If you have any other info about this subject , Please add it free.# |
