SE kits will be mailed out end of Jan

  • I just got a call from the SE desk telling me that the new SE kits will be mailed out the last week of Jan or first week of Feb at the latest...

    I was surprise that someone actually called me personally...!


  • I called them asking for baggage tags, and they said AC is out of stock, and that I must wait for new packet to arrive.

    When I called up Aeroplan, the agent that answered the phone was able to find the information by going through her computer. It took her a few minutes, but she found it and told me the exact date.

    I was told that the "date" was when it was sent to the mail room. She then told me that I should receive the package by Monday or Tuesday.


  • Now, now Fly Boy. I am shocked to read the foregoing post. Why would you ever want to have AC SE tags dangling from your cases? Why would you want to be seen identified with such an inferior brand? And by the way, since you feel so strongly about Canadian wines being available on AC flights — on this subject I am for once in agreement with you — then I suggest you consider sending off a case of Inniskillin or Chateau des Charmes to Empress for New Years. He did you a great favour, and has ended up paying for it from his own pocket.

    I don't think upgrading will be any harder.. if it was, i think we would already be dealing with it now as Jan 1 - Feb 28 typically have more SE/E/P than usual because of people who didn't qualify for the coming year are still having their elite status and especially this period this year feature a combination of CP EP/G/C and AC SE/E/P.


  • I wonder if you call for replacing a lost card. Will they send you a 2001 SE card? You might get it a few weeks earlier this way.

    I guess it makes no difference to you since you were EP last year and now has a temporary SE card.


  • I just got off the phone with Aeroplan. They stated that Elite kits were being sent First Class. I also asked about my Elite kit specifically, and was told that it was sent out on January 26th.

    I used to be in the Printing Industry in the UK, the despatch company that AC use most likley have to assemble the whole kit, the parts of which would come in from different suppliers. Invariably this is a manual task, and with several thousand to send out would take about a month or more even for a large company.

  • SE packages will start being mailed Jan29, while E and P packages will start being mailed on Jan31. All should be received and ready to use for the start of the new benefit period, Mar01.


  • Does it take that long (ie, whole month) to mail out the top tier packages this year? It means there are lots of qualified flyers this year... more dificult to upgrade now. Tens of thousands of Elite and thousands of SE made it this year, I guess?

    But there are also more flights, even after the latest schedule adjustments. Overall, it shouldn't make much difference.


  • Probably... in the past, we all usually receive our kits around the same time. I don't know how AC mail their SE kits out, but CP used to send out EP kits by Priotiry Post.

    Or it could mean that the poor stiff licking envelopes and stamps just can't handle the load.

  • A little slow, as usual, but was told today that top tier packages are now being sent out 1st class and will continue being sent out until approx 27Feb01 (the later dates using priority post).

    No changes to Q-miles or Q-segments for 2001.
