Need 5500 on Delta from MCO

  • I need to get 5500 miles on Delta to maintain my Gold status for next year. I actually need 8000, but I think I get a 50% bonus because of my Gold status, so as I calculate, that means I need 5500.

I've never tried a mileage run before - I've always gotten my miles with no problem. But this year I split my miles between NWA and DL. I already made Gold on NWA and am close to making it on DL.

I will probably only be available the two middle weekends in December to do the flights and I live in Orlando. I don't have any place in particular I want to go; I'm more interested in doing it quickly.

Any suggestions? I'd appreciate any tips anyone has.

    Thanks,
    Susan

If you are looking to do international, I know DL has listed some good fares to FRA via ATL. This would give you the needed mileage. The fares from MCO are about $417+ right now those weekends you indicated.

  • I don't have any specific suggestions, but be sure to include TPA in your searches. In my experience, TPA is probably the single best mileage run origin airport for DL.

TPA-LAX/SFO/PDX/SEA can generally be had for ~$200 at certain times and one properly routed trip will get you more than 5500 miles.

A First Class fare or a B or Y fare would, but not "bonus" miles. Bonus miles are called "bonus" cuz they aren't elite equalifying. Loot at your Delta earnings this year to confirm.

Sorry to be the bearer of such bad news...
