CAK-LGA Reduced To 2x Daily!

  • Looks like CO has been wise to price-match this market out of CLE.
    Begining Nov. 7 CAK-LGA goes from 3x to 2x.
FL/FA, have the loads on this flight dried up?
I know that i have pretty much stopped flying FL after:
-Airtran got rid of the free space-available elite upgrades.
-CO began matching the price from CAK-LGA.
-A particularly nasty upgrade experience with a FL GA and FA...

I got a gate upgrade last week, but the rule I've always followed is that if you don't fly on the low cost carrier on their route then it will go away. It has happened in every market that AirTran has abandoned.

  • Source?
I dont recall CAK-LGA flights being reduced from 3 to 2.
I know they started at 2 and went up to 3, but never back down to 2.

This flight reduction doesn't have anything to do with CO in CLE or CAK loads. AirTran lost some LGA landing slots being used for service in Akron/ Canton and Newport News, and as a result they are being forced to reduce service in both markets. This happened once before, and AirTran was able to get their slots resinstated and resume the flights after a few months.

  • Continental will protect its CLE hub and areas around it..Airtran is learning.
No, CO is learning to better protect its' hub.
For years CO let FL grow unchecked at CAK figuring people would pay a premium for CLE service.
CO has finally caught on and is now actually beating FL on price.
With the location and price factors combined it spells real trouble for FL at CAK....
