Are teachers aloud to call students dumb in high school?

NO! not even as a joke...In England high school (or College as we call it) teachers are allowed to say any word as long as it's not the C**t word. But they are not allowed to use any derogatory term to a student i.e. call them something.Not even when the student spells allowed as aloud!Unfortunately, there is no law or policy against it; however, teachers are taught to respect students and never use that word. It is sad that some people chose to become teachers, because they really don't enjoy the students...an example you have shown! Know that this is the teacher's problem, not yours! You are not dumb! The teacher that called you dumb is the dumb one! :)It's not something you can get fired for, if that's what you're asking. It's not professional and certainly not condoned at teacher training institutions. There will no doubt be many people posting on this forum after me (or before me) that will tell you to go as far as getting a lawyer and going to the school board, but that's completely unnecessary. However, if the teachers says that something you've done is dumb, then you've really got no case, because they can have whatever opinion of what you do that they wish and can express that, as long as they're not verbally abusing you with it. If you feel uncomfortable at any time with something a teacher says, the first person you should talk to is the teacher. You should tell them, right out, that you feel uncomfortable with whatever they've said. Teachers everywhere are allowed to state that they believe something or something someone has done is dumb, or that someone is dumb for doing something. You may need to clarify the situation a little, though, because it sort of sounds like something that isn't that big a deal.#If you have any other info about this subject , Please add it free.# |
