  • I signed up and within a few minutes I was approved. There was link if you already have an AMEX card. I simply used my name also as the business name. It was quite easy.

    Thanks.

  • Signed up. Seems like its a good offer. Thanks.

  • Anyway around this, if you don't have a small business?

Calvary Enterprises has a nice ring to it. Surely you have sold something to someone at least once in your life. You do not need a Federal Tax ID number if you are a sole proprietorship, which is what I imagine Calvary Enterprises is. In the case of a sole proprietorship your tax ID number is your SS#.

I don't think you will have any problems.

  • we should have a thread in the Amex forum with an optimized card earning scheme :)

  • Is the 3% restaurant rebate on the same AMEX card or a different card?

Different card. I use the Amex Costco Card for Small Businesses--that gives me 3% in restaurants and 2% on travel. Ironically, I do not use the Costco card at Costco. That card only gives 1% rebate on Costco purchases. For Costco I use the Fidelity Amex that puts 1.5% into my daughters' 529 accounts.

  • The Discover card has a purchase limit of 1200.00-after that the 5% does not applyAh, yesssss.

Buried in the fine print on the back of the flyer.

    Maybe that's why I haven't signed up yet. :)

  • I got offered a Discover card (of all things) that gives 5% back on gas and automotive-related purchases! Which means (according to their own examples), car parts, repairs, etc.

For some reason, I haven't signed up yet.

The only link they give is gas.discovercard.com. (http://www.gas.discovercard.com) My invitation number is FCLH

  • Between this and the 3% restaurant rebate AMEX an FTer could do quite well!

As far as having a business is concerned, you have to personally guarantee the card anyway so you can probably just make up a business name. I don't think they will care -- but I've not looked at the application.

  • Enough talk about it. It's a good idea. I'm going to start a credit card rebate/perks/deals optimization thread under the "Other Credit Card Programs" forum called "Unofficial Official Credit Card Optimization Thread."

  • I've put one in and it was accepted. Your giving them business so I would be surprised if they turned it down.
