  • I think its 28.


  • The person who said 28 is correct.

    Think about the 8 people one at a time - the first person, person A, has to shake hands with 7 other people. After he's done that, remove him from the equation. (so there will be no repeats)

    The next person, person B, has to shake hands with only 6 other people. Person C has to shake hands with 5 other people, and so on.

    So 7+6+5+4+3+2+1 = 28
