That's a patently ridiculous statement, especially on a leisure route like HNL.
I've never met a wealthy businessman who likes to lose money, especially when there is no hope of ever turning it around.
Have you?

Remember the last out fit that offered 2-1 fares and what happened to them.... ;)
This, from the big fan of the airline that was nailed by the Competition Tribunal for anti-competitive actions against WS and CJ1.
From the airline that inflated it's claim to the Gov't of Canada after 9/11 and was forced to pay back millions of tax payers dollars.
From the airline that helped C3000 along by launching a product that all but wiped out their advance bookings just as they were on the precipice of failure. Oh yeah, that Tango product lasted how long? An airline converted into a fare class.
From the airline under investigation by Interpol for price fixing.
From the airline that offered to do a deal with Roots Air, kept them in limbo for just long enough to run them out of cash, then pulled the pin on them.
From the airline that mysteriously knew precisely when WS shut itself down in Sept 96, and offered to "help out" even though they were based 2000 miles away and the gang at Canadian, who were neighbours of all the parties, knew nothing about the goings on.......
I could go on and on........
;)
Fortunately the pockets at HMY run very deep.
Agreed.
The question is, how does he extricate himself from the mess? No one in Canada wants it because he forgot about fleet compatibility issues.
The Asian carriers are not going to roll over and play dead if Harmony gets the iron to operate sched to China etc. It's only going to get worse.
There are some very funny stories circulating from one of the real characters in the business who lives in central BC about some of the discussions with Ho's minions prior to HMY's launch.
;)
according to todays paper it is sold out.
Yadda yadda yadda.
WJ has been sold out for days, ACE has to give away seats for $199 tonight.
They don't even do the smart thing and push the fare up to something that approaches an economic level. They are so keen to keep l/f up after the embarrassing swack they percieved last month when WJ's loads exceeded their loads. Are they so dumb, they can't figure out that 70% full of $400 fares beats 85% full of $199 fares?
WJ has free IFE, if you are like the majority of humans on aircraft who have their own headphones. OAK? When did that last happen? Is that like the 12 hour delay coming out of SYD last week?
Do yourself a favor and figure out Harmony's daily utilization. It must be about the lowest for any 757 operation in North America. High costs, low fares, no utilization.....what a plan......
Great flight times, but they arrive too late in YVR for any connections, meaning they rely on pure 0 & D.
High risk strategy, esp as seasonal demand falters.

Thanks for your opinion into this promotion code. Your tangent invoving ambigious speech as to how airlines that run sales (except westjet with their incredible, consumer-benefitting $5 off seat sales) are losing money is so much more helpful than the OP itself. Really. Thanks. We don't know where we would be without you.
Have you?

Ah, but in some cultures losing face is worse than losing cash.
